Huasun Heterojunction Full-scenario Solution 06: Sand & Gobi Deserts

2025/09/03

The sand deserts, Gobi deserts, and other barren lands present harsh conditions but also abundant solar resources. With a bifaciality approaching 100%, Huasun s HJT modules harness high ground reflectivity to achieve greater power gains and more reliable project returns.

01: Stronger Reliability

In deserts, PV systems must withstand wind erosion, sand abrasion, and shifting dunes. Huasun’s HJT modules are built for these conditions, featuring a bifacial glass-glass design with steel alloy frames and butyl edge sealing for exceptional durability and structural strength.

Installed with the lower edge raised two meters above ground and arranged in 2P portrait with optimized tilt, they minimize dust shading and maintain efficiency. Their optimized temperature coefficient of -0.24%/°C ensures strong performance even in extreme heat, and after 6,000 hours of damp heat testing, efficiency loss remains below 4%, proving long-term stability.

02: Premium Economic Value

In a performance assessment conducted in Yinchuan, Ningxia, Northwest China (37.716° North, 106.716° East), Huasun’s 730 W HJT solar modules were compared against 650 W back-contact (BC) modules with identical layouts, both incorporating 132 half-cut cells.

The results highlight the superior long-term value of Huasun's HJT technology. With a lower linear degradation rate of 0.3% per year (versus 0.35% for BC modules) and a significantly higher bifaciality of 90% compared to 70% for BC modules, Huasun HJT solar modules deliver enhanced energy yield and economic returns. Specifically, the HJT modules achieved 2.43% higher first-year power generation hours, a 3.47% reduction in balance-of-system (BOS) costs, and a 0.46% increase in internal rate of return (IRR), underscoring their strong advantage in performance and project profitability.

03: Remarkable Ecological Value

Beyond strong economic returns, HJT desert solar projects deliver significant ecological benefits. Huasun s HJT modules create shade and insulation in fragile desert environments, reducing water evaporation and fostering plant growth beneath the arrays. When integrated with sand-fixation and ecological restoration efforts, they achieve a powerful triple outcome: solar power generation, desertification control, and ecosystem enhancement.

Huasun’s approach has already shown early success in combining desert restoration with clean energy development. To date, Huasun has built over 2 GW of desert solar projects across Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, and other regions, providing a model for future energy transition in these areas.
