The PV ModuleTech Conference Europe 2024, organized by PV-Tech, was held on November 26-27 in Málaga, Spain. Representing Huasun Energy, Christian Comes, Director of Business Development Europe, delivered a presentation titled "Understanding PV Module Supply to the European Market in 2025." His insights provided an in-depth analysis of Europe's solar market trends and highlighted the advantages of Huasun’s heterojunction (HJT) solar modules. Huasun also introduced its innovative colored HJT modules to the Spanish market for the first time, demonstrating their versatility and potential in diverse photovoltaic applications.
Comes emphasized the critical importance of quality, durability, and reliability in PV module procurement, highlighting that power degradation is a key factor affecting energy output.
He outlined the most common causes of degradation at both the cell and module levels, such as UV exposure, moisture ingress and cell cracks, and further explained how Huasun’s innovative materials and designs effectively address these challenges. Huasun’s approach includes continuous enhancements to its HJT technology and the integration of advanced materials into mass production, significantly improving energy performance.
To tackle moisture sensitivity and improve overall durability, Huasun has introduced butyl adhesive (PIB), a sealing material commonly used in construction. This material offers over 100 times the moisture resistance of conventional silicone rubber. In DH6000h tests, modules sealed with PIB achieved a degradation rate of less than 4%.
To address UV-induced degradation, Huasun utilizes light conversion films (LCF) that transform UV light into gentler blue light. These innovations resulted in degradation rates below 3% during UV180 testing. Additionally, all Huasun modules feature 0BB (zero busbar) technology, delivering superior anti-degradation performance across multiple tests.
Huasun continues to expand the possibilities for HJT technology with its colored HJT modules, which debuted in Spain at the conference. These modules have garnered significant industry attention for their versatility and aesthetic appeal.
Criss Jin, General Manager of Overseas Sales & Marketing Center at Huasun, highlighted the modules’ wide range of color options designed for diverse applications. These modules enhance visual appeal while outperforming conventional transparent glass in UV resistance, achieving up to 80% light transmittance. The composite frames used in these modules produce significantly lower carbon emissions compared to aluminum, making them highly suitable for residential rooftops, BIPV projects, and other applications aligned with Europe’s low-carbon construction goals.
As a pioneer in heterojunction solar manufacturing, Huasun has achieved large-scale production of high-efficiency HJT modules, delivering over 8 GW to more than 60 countries worldwide. By advancing research and development, Huasun continues to set new standards for module power and efficiency, offering a diverse product portfolio that supports the global transition to renewable energy and sustainable development.
