Pioneering Zero Busbar Design Ushers in High-efficiency PV Era - Huasun Spotlights Heterojunction Technology at pv magazine Webinar

2024.05.10

In a vibrant exploration of pioneering solar advancements, the allure of heterojunction (HJT) technology persists as a promising avenue towards dependable, high-efficiency n-type PV modules. On May 7th, Huasun Energy and pv magazine co-hosted the webinar "Zero Busbar and High Efficiency HJT", unveiling the potential of heterojunction as a pathway towards reliable, high-efficiency n-type PV modules.

During the webinar, Dr. Chen Jingwei, Technical Assistant to the Chairman at Huasun, provided profound insights into Huasun's zero busbar (0BB) design, emphasizing its distinct advantages compared to conventional approaches. Additionally, Ginger Dai, Head of Product Planning at Huasun, illuminated the exceptional performance of Huasun's HJT products across a spectrum of system solutions and demonstration projects, illustrating its versatility across diverse scenarios.

While the 0BB technology has come to the industrialization stage, discrepancies persist among companies regarding implementation approaches. Huasun's approach, centered on welding and dispensing techniques, offers notable advantages including enhanced ribbon adhesion, augmented resistance to hot spots, and the elimination of carrier film.

Dr. Chen elaborated on the technical prowess of Huasun's innovative two-step single printing (SP) technology, which optimizes electron mobility by minimizing electrical resistance within solar cells, thereby culminating in superior electrical and cell-to-module (CTM) performance compared to conventional super multi-busbar (SMBB) products. Moreover, this process facilitates the production of superior solar cells at reduced costs in paste, equipment, and energy. “Another essential process is welding before lamination, which plays a key role in reducing the occurrence of hotspots and strengthening the ribbon adhesion, leading to higher production yield and improved module reliability.” Dr. Chen added.

In a landscape marked by escalating competition between TOPCon and HJT technologies, HJT is garnering widespread acclaim with its remarkable efficiency and performance. Ginger Dai bolstered this acclaim through meticulous simulation and demonstration cases, affirming the exceptional performance of Huasun's HJT modules relative to other technologies. Benefits by leverage of finer ribbon, the utility solar projects can achieve heightened power generation with exceptional weak-light performance and remarkable bifaciality of up to 90%. “Additionally, we apply approximately 20% lighter encapsulation in the 0BB products to improve module reliability, aiming to make the C&I rooftop projects more affordable and profitable,” Dai further elucidated, “With a lower temperature coefficient of -0.24%/℃, projects utilizing HJT modules can significantly mitigate power loss, particularly in arid and hot environments such as desert scenarios, ultimately realizing a power generation gain of 3.65% compared to TOPCon technology.”
