Huasun Heterojunction Full-scenario Solution 05: Harsh Offshore Environments

2025/08/15

Offshore photovoltaics are emerging as a key area of growth. In challenging environments with high salinity, humidity, and wind pressure, Huasun heterojunction (HJT) solar modules stand out as the ideal choice — offering superior energy efficiency and exceptional environmental resilience.

01: Efficient & Stable Output

In offshore PV projects, HJT modules are ideal due to their optimized temperature coefficient of -0.24%/°C, which reduces power loss at high temperatures and leads to a 3% higher average daily power generation. Overall, it ensures stable, efficient energy generation despite harsh offshore conditions, improves module longevity, and enhances overall project reliability and returns.

Huasuns HJT solar modules deliver industry-leading performance, with a champion module efficiency of 24.75% and a record cell efficiency of 26.5%. Featuring ultra-high bifaciality of over 95%, these modules are engineered to capture more sunlight from both sides, significantly boosting energy yield. Their high efficiency and bifacial design make them especially effective in reflective environments such as offshore and coastal installations, where maximizing output is critical.

02: Reliable Encapsulation

Offshore photovoltaic systems face harsh, long-term challenges from salt spray and high humidity. To address these conditions, Huasun’s HJT modules have undergone comprehensive structural and material upgrades, forming a robust multi-layer protection system.

Through a comprehensive upgrade of materials and sealing technologies, the modules deliver exceptional durability and long-term reliability. Key features include AA15-grade anti-corrosion aluminum alloy or GRPU composite frames, dual-layer anti-glare coated glass, and a precision butyl adhesive sealing process—all working together to enhance structural integrity, airtightness, and moisture resistance. This multi-layered protection encapsulation improves waterproofness by 100 times, significantly extending module lifespan with consistent, safe, and efficient operation in marine conditions.

03: Premium Economic Value

In a performance assessment conducted in Taizhou, Zhejiang, East China (28.301°N, 121.561°E), Huasun’s 730 W HJT solar modules were compared against 650 W back-contact (BC) modules with identical layouts, both incorporating 132 half-cut cells.

The results highlight the superior long-term value of Huasun's HJT technology. With a lower linear degradation rate of 0.3% per year (versus 0.35% for BC modules) and a significantly higher bifaciality of 90% compared to 70% for BC modules, Huasun HJT solar modules deliver enhanced energy yield and economic returns. Specifically, the HJT modules achieved 1.57% higher first-year power generation hours, a 4.6% reduction in balance-of-system (BOS) costs, and a 0.53% increase in internal rate of return (IRR), underscoring their strong advantage in performance and project profitability.
