Huasun Presents Groundbreaking Heterojunction Solar Innovation at Energyear Greece 2024


Heterojunction (HJT) technology is currently one of the most promising solar technologies, grabbing attention worldwide. On May 9th, Energyear Greece 2024 was hosted in Athens. Energyear stands as one of the most influential renewable energy summits in Europe and the Americas, attracting over 20,000 industry professionals since its inception in 2023. Christian Comes, Director of Business Development Europe at Huasun Energy, joined this summit to discuss the potential of advanced HJT solar technology in the Greek market alongside leading solar industry players.


Greece enjoys ample sunlight, with an average of about 3,000 hours of sunshine per year and an annual solar radiation ranging from 1,400 to 1,800 kilowatt-hours per square meter. Recent data from the Hellenic Association of Photovoltaic Companies (Helapco) shows that Greece added a record-breaking 1.59 gigawatts of new PV capacity in 2023. Currently, Greece's installed PV capacity stands at 7.1 gigawatts, meeting 18.4% of the country's electricity demand, making it a frontrunner in solar electricity generation in Europe. Greece's National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) aims to increase its cumulative renewable energy capacity to 71.7 gigawatts by 2050, with solar energy contributing 34.5 gigawatts, underscoring the nation's solar development potential.


The panel discussion centered on "Innovation and Productivity: Technological Advances in Renewable Energies." Comes introduced the advanced features and latest developments of Huasun's HJT technology, highlighting the industry's anticipated rapid development and broader application of HJT technology in the next five years. Compared to traditional PV technologies, HJT technology offers advantages such as higher bifaciality, module power, and conversion efficiency, providing customers with greater energy gains, particularly in large-scale power plants.



Advanced module encapsulation techniques, coupled with light conversion film and butyl rubber, significantly enhance the reliability of Huasun's HJT modules, ensuring stable and efficient energy yield even in Greece's high summer temperatures, thereby fully harnessing the nation's abundant solar resources.
